Sahondra and I of the National Service and Support Team for Prayer for Ywam South Africa were invited to participate in a Prayer Summit sponsored by Jericho Walls in Pretoria. We were exposed to many other Prayer Ministries that operate throughout South Africa. Many of them were influenced by the 24/7 prayer movement. I was astounded at how much prayer takes place in this nation. It was exciting to participate and also be asked to personally wait on God for direction for the nation. Upcoming elections, community and church were the main concerns addressed and we were all encouraged to hear God’s heart about these issues.
The Lord spoke to me several things. He said that He is not wringing His hands at the state of affairs in South Africa. The job that needs to be done cannot be done. It is impossible….but that is when He can step in and does the impossible. If this job was all up to us it would never get done. We cannot do it. It is God who works through us. We need to wait on Him. We need to spend time in His Presence. We are called to become a dwelling place for Him. We are carriers of His Presence into every situation. We decrease so that He can increase. We must create opportunities for the Holy Spirit and praying is one of those avenues that opens the gates. Worship is another. Serving others, holy and godly living, being good examples, moving in the opposite spirit, and public proclamation of the Word all create an environment for the Spirit to dwell.
God is inviting us to once again recognize our complete dependency on Him. This task of revival, renewal and bringing in the end time harvest is impossible without Him.
