Paulo Santos and wife, Marisa, have been in Worcester for 5 years. Their strengths and passions are being largely directed toward community development in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Malawi since 2006.
When Paulo went to Zimbabwe in 2006, his heart was stirred pertaining towards the physical needs that he saw related to lack of agricultural necessities. The farmers in the community there had plowed their fields, but they didn’t have seeds. Paulo thought that the people in his home country of Brazil would want to help. He was right! This has started a connection between the Zimbabwean farmers and the Church of Jesus Christ in Brazil. The Brazilian church sponsored 2,500 families the first year. This sponsorship makes sure that each family has enough seeds to sow their fields.
When Paulo was in Zimbabwe for the first time he had a divine appointment with a group called Farming God’s Way. This organization focuses primarily on the agricultural area of community development. Paulo felt that he should start partnering with Farming God’s Way. Now, Paulo desires to use agriculture as a starting point to begin community development.
The Santos’ and Farming God’s Way have joined with pastors and key people in the communities in Zimbabwe to see wholistic transformation. They also go out and teach the local people a variety of things pertaining to agriculture, such as seeding, fertilizing, weeding, and irrigation.
One of their goals for this year is to reach the neighborhood close to the Worcester YWAM base. They also desire to see some of the Biblical agricultural principals applied in this area and see what happens.
Paulo and Marisa are filled with vision and they are great people to talk with and learn from. If you want to know more about what they are up to, you can contact them at firstname.lastname@example.org (Students from Communication school – Media village)
