YWAM Worcester BTPS

About the BTPS

Empowering teachers and preachers to reach their full potential as ministers of the Word by providing biblically-based mentoring in Preaching and Teaching.

The Biblical Teaching and Preaching School (BTPS) gives students training and practical experience in ministering the Word of God in a variety of different contexts.
The aim of the school is to equip students who already have a thorough understanding of the Scriptures for a ministry of teaching and preaching in churches or on the mission field. The students learn practical skills in effective communication, and they are given help in effective study and heart preparation.
The end result is the preaching and teaching of a message rooted in an accurate interpretation of the Bible, as well as in the power of the Holy Spirit.

This course is NOT a SAQA accredited qualification.

YWAM Worcester BTPS

Church Placement and Field Assignment requirement

Please note: The completion of the Church Placement phase and Outreach Phase is a requirement for the successful completion of the BTPS.

During the Church Placement, students will put in practice what they’ve learned in the Lecture 1 phase, which focuses on preaching principles and methods. In the Outreach Phase, students will incorporate the whole content of the school in a practical way. They will teach others how to facilitate learning and equipping the local church with the tools they have acquired during the school. They will go out in small teams to locations decided in partnership with the school leader and the students. The likely ministry opportunities would include serving local churches, teaching seminars, teaching on YWAM schools such as SBSs, DTSs, and BCCs. The goal is to provide a wide variety of teaching and preaching opportunities so the student can apply and grow in what has been learned during the classroom phases, as well as serve those to whom they minister.

Goals of the BTPS

Develop the Person

This development will occur in a collective environment involving lectures, small groups, resolving personal issues in your own life, and especially through church placement and outreach as the Holy Spirit confronts you while you prepare for teaching or preaching.

Develop the Gifting

We will do this through providing a range of opportunities that perhaps would not be available in other venues of life, and making positive critique available to you after every teaching or preaching opportunity; ultimately we will facilitate the developing of your gifting through direct impartation from the Holy Spirit.

Facilitate Transformation

By developing your understanding of who Christ is so that Christ-centered living, preaching and teaching matures in your life.

The successful completion of a YWAM-DTS
The successful completion of either a BCC, XBCC, SBS, or equivalent pre-approved by the BTPS leader.
How can I pay for my BTPS fees?
There are many options to pay for your school fees. You can make an Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), pay via PayPal, credit or debit cards in our office, as well as cash (less prefered). There are several ATMs spread around town and you can withdraw funds from them as needed.
Do BTPS students attend church during the program?
We encourage all our students to commit to a local church during their time with us. You are free to choose which church you attend. Our staff are involved in many different churches in and around Worcester and they will help you know what’s available. Your parents or your home pastor may also have recommendations for you.
Can I receive further training with YWAM after my BTPS?
Yes! We encourage students to consider following up their BTPS with other second and third-level schools.
Additionally, YWAM’s University of the Nations offers several training programs at campuses around the world. The DTS is a prerequisite for any other UofN training. The goal of these courses is to further equip you to accomplish the mission God has given you; they can also lead to a degree from the UofN. We’ll share more with you about further training opportunities once you’ve arrived for your school, but you are also welcome to ask our registrar about them now.
Do I need any vaccinations?
We do not have any required vaccinations for new students, but it is a good idea to be up-to-date with all of your immunization boosters before you come. You can also consult your health care practitioner for any special recommendation. Worcester is a malaria-free zone.
