Fancy a game of Golf, but you’re bad with a 9 iron? Disc Golf, introducing this new sport to South African youth, Jeremiah King, currently serving with YWAM Worcester, has big plans for the expansion of the sport and with it to gain lives for Christ. The game originated in 1975 by a man called Ed Headrick, this sport could be a sibling of the original idea. The game is played on a course consisting of 18 pole holes (uniquely designed units),the players tee off with their frisbees/’disks’ and try to land it into the basket of the pole hole. Playing, having fun and getting some outdoor exercise, the player with the least cumulative score at the end of the day is the winner. The purpose of this sport, according to Jeremiah,is not to be exclusive but an invitation to the outside public to attend, play and receive ministry. Because most of the youth are afraid of going to church, this opportunity is free of charge and won’t pressurize them. Jeremiah’s team is planning to host a Disc Golf competition in Worcester later on, where anybody may participate and stand the chance to win some prizes. The courses are scheduled to be layed out and built on a secluded time. “Disc golf will change your life as it has mine†– Ed Headrick, founder of Disc golf.
