Songwriting & Scripture DTS

The heart behind the Songwriting & Scripture DTS is to explore the power of the scripture in songwriting and the spoken word. The scripture has inspired millions of believers around the world for generations to write Spirit-filled poems and songs that continue to inspire believers around the world. The goal of the school is to awaken creative abilities in individual callings and spiritual gifts. Through the power of the Spirit, many will be able to find their true potential and shine the light God places in them long before they were created. Just as God called and anointed Bezalel with gifts of creative art and design (Exodus 30:1-6), many whose gifts have been lying dormant will find their purpose again and bring glory to the Father. Come join us on this great adventure of a lifetime!

What our former students say

What' our students say about the Passion & Pursuit DTS

My DTS was an unforgettable experience! I could know God and go deeper into a relationship with him. Knowing him and who He made me to be opened space for healing and to live in complete freedom. I also had a chance to know new cultures, learn from them, and worship the same God together in many different ways! If you want to know your identity, you need to know the creator.

Does the YWAM-DTS provide credit for other Universities?
The Discipleship Training School (DTS) is one of the YWAM courses registered with YWAM’s University of the Nations (UofN). The UofN offers credits for the DTS which can be applied to UofN degrees. Students receive 12 credits for the DTS lecture phase and 8-11 credits for the outreach phase.
Also, credits from UofN courses are transferable to a number of respected Christian colleges in the United States, and in South Africa, it's transferable to the South African Theological Seminary. Please, get in touch with the specific institution you are interested in continue with your studies to find out their policy.
Is this mission only for young people or only focuses on young people?
Youth With A Mission began as an organisation to help young people get involved in the global purposes of God and this will always be a primary focus for YWAM.

However, many people join YWAM as a second career or after retirement. Some of YWAM’s Discipleship Training Schools (DTS) specifically focus on providing mission training for families or older students.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO BE ACCEPTED TO A DTS?
Our Discipleship Training Schools are designed to provide an opportunity for anyone to get involved in world missions. We do not require college degrees, work experience, or a seminary background. You do need to be at least 18 years of age (or 17 years old & a high school graduate) to apply for a DTS. Apart from the age requirement, we only ask that you fill out a simple application to be evaluated by the leaders of the DTS.
If you’re passionate for God and are ready to be challenged by Him, then you are ready for a DTS!
WHERE IS OUTREACH? WHEN WILL I KNOW WHERE I'M GOING?
The outreach locations depend on a number of factors within the school and are selected carefully through a process of prayer and strategic insight. Typically students will find out their outreach locations by the 2nd week of lecture. Students learn about their locations and will be given a time to pray about where to go on outreach, to connect with their churches, families, and supporters. Then the school leadership will meet and organize the teams. Your team will then meet weekly to pray together and prepare for outreach.
HOW CAN I PAY FOR MY SCHOOL FEES?
There are many options to pay for your school fees. You can make an Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), pay via PayPal, major credit or debit cards, or cash. There are several ATMs spread around town and you can withdraw funds from them as needed.
Do DTS students attend church?
We require all of our students to commit to a local church during DTS. You’re free to choose which church you attend. Our staff are involved in several different churches around Worcester and they will help you know what’s available. Your parents or your home pastor may also have recommendations for you.
Can I receive further training with YWAM after my DTS?
Yes! Here at YWAM Worcester we encourage students to consider following up their DTS with other second-level schools, such as the Bible or counseling course.
Additionally, YWAM’s University of the Nations offers hundreds of training programs at campuses around the world. The DTS is a prerequisite for other YWAM training. The goal of these courses is to further equip you to accomplish the mission God has given you. They can also lead to a degree from the UofN. We’ll share more with you about further training opportunities once you’ve arrived for DTS.
Do I need any vaccinations?
We do not have any required vaccinations, but it is a good idea to be up to date on all of your immunization boosters before you come. You can also consult your health care practitioner for any special recommendation.
