A DTS For Everyone

The Discipleship Training School (YWAM-DTS) seeks to bring you into a more intimate relationship with God. It also gives you an opportunity to discover your passions and your part in God’s purposes for the world. It is for those who long to follow Jesus in new ways with a different perspective.

The course is a full-time program and lasts about five months. It consists of two parts: the Lecture Phase and Outreach Phase. In the lecture phase, you will learn more about God and His world. You’ll learn not only from lectures but also from community living and practical training. The outreach phase focuses on applying what you’ve learned in the classroom through an intense, cross-cultural experience.

The January DTS offers different “tracks” (a focus on a particular type of activity alongside the DTS curriculum. During your school, you will journey with others with the same interest and passion, and also grow together in community and reach out to others in your giftings.

AT THE TABLE TRACK

At The Table Track offers an experience of misfits gathering at the table of Jesus and discovering His heart for all people. We stand in agreement that all are invited and welcomed at His table. This invitation is an expression of the very heart of God! The table is where the process of healing and wholeness begins.

So, whether you come to the table with hesitation, skepticism, or confidence, know that you are welcomed and loved. If you have wandered, there is beauty in coming back! Even when you have not realized it, you have been pursued by His relentless love.

During the 12 weeks of DTS lectures, you will discover and be your true self, you will learn more about the heart of God. You will also understand that God has been with you all along and you have never been alone, He has never turned away from you. You will know His heart for others to come to the realization that they belong at His table.

After the lecture phase, there’s an outreach period (11 weeks). Here you will have the opportunity to go into the world with the good news, proclaiming that all are invited to the table of Jesus. There’s no nation, tribe or people we will not reach. You will have the opportunity to serve the poor, orphans and widows, to support the local churches and to be the physical extension of this invitation wherever you go.

Spiritual Formation TRACK

Spiritual Formation Track engages in the process and practices that deepen one’s experience of the triune God together with others. It also focuses on personal growth in community and clarifies one’s vocational calling so that one can relate and live as Jesus would if he were that person.

We will explore together the aspects of becoming like Christ through the material from authors or speakers from a variety of Biblical perspectives. It is our assumption that every stream of God’s people (past and present) has some treasure to offer.

The overall goal of this track is for each participant to deepen in their relationship with God and increase in Christlikeness by engaging in a number of spiritual practices. And we will engage in these practices with others to gain further insight regarding their role in Spiritual Formation.

Testimonials about the DTS

DTS started a journey in me, to be intentional with people around me and explore the bottomless love of God. To know God more clears my identity and creates strong friendships.
- Kabelo Mokoena, Former DTS Student
My DTS was an unforgettable experience! I could know God and go deeper into a relationship with him. Knowing him and who He made me to be opened space for healing and to live in complete freedom. I also had a chance to know new cultures, learn from them, and worship the same God together in many different ways! If you want to know your identity, you need to know the creator.
- Julyana, former Identity DTS student
