YWAM Worcester DTS

Nation Builders DTS

The Nation Builders Discipleship Training School is conducted in Pretoria the Administrative Capital of South Africa.

This DTS offers you a time of reflection on the life Jesus lived here on earth while at the same time contemplating what it means to be truly human and to flourish in the midst of a demanding humanistic culture.

In John 10:10 Jesus declares the following to the Pharisees, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (NIV). The Lord Jesus Christ came that you may have life and have it to the full. Not that you would survive but thrive, expand and influence. He came so that we would flourish.

We explore the concept of human flourishing focusing on the questions – what does it mean to have life? What would it look like if we had it to the full?

Our answers to these questions will reveal and shape your:

–  life purpose including calling.
–  the gifts in your toolbox towards your calling.
–  the sphere of influence assigned to you.

This course is NOT a SAQA accredited qualification.

What our former students say

Learn more about the XBCC

xBCC for me was a paradigm shift in my life with the Word. Never before have I had the tools, the knowledge nor the concept of how to approach the Bible in the way that I learned during xBCC, and it truly equipped me for studying the Scriptures like never before. If you are hungry for knowledge, revelation and deeper understanding of the Bible, I would highly recommend investing 3 months staying in an environment like xBCC to get to know the Word Himself – Jesus.
- Leif Kåre Lysåker from Norway, former student
During my xBCC, I developed such a passion for God’s Word by putting myself in the shoes of those in the Bible. In a short three months, I was able to explore so many simple and easy, but powerful, ways to read and study the Bible and each time I noticed that God’s plan has always been to personally speak to me. I learned of God’s character in every single verse I read and now I know that I will never be able to get enough of Him.
- Franli van Tiddens from South Africa, former student
The xBCC taught me that the Bible has the power to change a life. I never before knew the amount and depth of truth that exists between its pages. The xBCC equipped me to meet with the Living God, Jesus, through the thorough study of and meditation on His Word.
- Kristen Abrahams from South Africa, former student
I never thought that three months of studying the Bible would change my entire view of the book and, most importantly, its Author. The xBCC experience was the most eye-opening, brain-wrecking, mind-blowing one I’ve had so far. Besides equipping me with amazing tools that I will continue using when reading and studying the Bible in the future, this journey made a way for me to see my Father in ways I hadn’t before – e.g. how His love for His people is portrayed throughout the whole Bible – and this is something I’ll forever treasure.
- Giovanna Stival from Brazil, former student
The xBCC was a transforming school. Not only did the Bible come alive for me but my faith grew such deep roots. The faithfulness of God and the steadfastness of His character wove its way around my heart and secured my once wavering identity in His trustworthy love.
- Nicole Bartell from USA, former student
Doing xBCC was the best decision ever! I never understood most parts of the Old Testament but when we started studying some of the books I saw God’s character perfectly portrayed. Before, the God of the Old Testament and the one of the New Testament seemed like two different Gods. But now I understand Him as the same loving God of the New Testament. Understanding the Word has given me deeper insight into His heart and plans. My passion for the Word has been fired up as I continue to use the Inductive Method, which I learnt on xBCC, to study more books of the Bible. It is hard for me not to share what I’ve learnt every chance I get.
- Lucy Maeko from South Africa, former student

Our Frequently Asked Questions

Does the XBCC provide credit for other Universities?
Accreditation in South Africa

Youth With A Mission in South Africa offers courses and field assignments that are accredited with the University of the Nations international (UofN). The UofN is operating in over 100 nations worldwide and is a degree-granting institution (Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s degree) but is NOT CURRENTLY ACCREDITED BY ANY ACCREDITATION AGENCY OR ASSOCIATION RECOGNISED BY THE SOUTH AFRICAN QUALIFICATIONS AUTHORITY (SAQA).

Various accredited colleges and universities across the world accept UofN transfer students and credits, including some local partners. Please, contact us for more information.

Is this mission only for young people or only focuses on young people?
Youth With A Mission began as an organisation to help young people get involved in the global purposes of God and this will always be a primary focus for YWAM.

However, many people join YWAM as a second career or after retirement. Some of YWAM’s Discipleship Training Schools (DTS) specifically focus on providing mission training for families or older students.

What are the requirements to be accepted into the xBCC?
We do not require college degrees, work experience, or a seminary background. You do need to be at least 18 years of age (or 17 years old & a high school graduate) and have successfully completed a DTS with its Field Assignment. Apart from the age requirement, we ask that you fill out a simple application form to be evaluated by the leaders of the school along with two references.
How can I pay for my xBCC fees?
There are many options to pay for your school fees. You can make an Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), pay via PayPal, credit or debit cards in our office, as well as cash (less prefered). There are several ATMs spread around town and you can withdraw funds from them as needed.
Do XBCC students attend church during the program?
We encourage all our students to commit to a local church during their time with us. You are free to choose which church you attend. Our staff are involved in many different churches in and around Worcester and they will help you know what’s available. Your parents or your home pastor may also have recommendations for you.
Can I receive further training with YWAM after my XBCC?
Yes! Here at YWAM Worcester we encourage students to consider following up their XBCC with other second and third-level schools.
Additionally, YWAM’s University of the Nations offers several of training programs at campuses around the world. The DTS is a prerequisite for any other UofN training. The goal of these courses is to further equip you to accomplish the mission God has given you; they can also lead to a degree from the UofN. We’ll share more with you about further training opportunities once you’ve arrived for your school, but you are also welcome to ask our registrar about them now.
Do I need any vaccinations?
We do not have any required vaccinations for new students, but it is a good idea to be up-to-date with all of your immunization boosters before you come. You can also consult your health care practitioner for any special recommendation. Worcester is a malaria-free zone.
